He Said

Where do you think you’re going, he said.

I want to go for a walk, she said.

It’s dark, it’s too late, it’s too dangerous, he said.

There are monsters and rapists and murderers, he said.

And you’re just a girl, and too weak, he said.

Now lie back and never tell.
